4th Grade Writing Buddies

This week we met our 4th grade writing buddies! We will be working with our writing buddies once a week, and it gives each child 1:1 support to learn how to write. Today we made class books on a family trip that we have gone on.

First Week Project

During our first week of school I asked the students what they wanted to be when they grew up. The pictures turned out cute!

First Week

Everyone survived the first week! Glad it is over and now we can move on to a regular routine. Here is an activity we did to help get to know each other and talk about how we treat our friends at school. Each child got to color part of the heart. We talked about how pretty the heart looked when it was finished. Then we took turned crushing the heart and stepping on it with our feet. We talked about how fun it was to do that to the heart. Then we opened the heart back up and looked at it. I asked the students if they still thought the heart looked as pretty as before. Did it make them as happy to look at it? They responded that it did not look as pretty and it made them feel sad. That activity led us into a conversation about how to treat our friends at school so that we do not hurt their hearts. We role played a lot of different scenarios and talked about how we have to make choices with our words and bodies so that we keep our hearts and our friends hearts happy and healthy. We hung our heart right outside our door to remind us everyday that we need to make good choices when talking and playing with out friends and in our classroom.
